Kamé and Simpson retain titles in Mauritius - IAAF Combined Events Challenge

At the African Combined Events Championships, the starting point for the 2012 IAAF Combined Events Challenge, which took place over the weekend (13/14 April) in Mauritius, last year’s winner Margaret Simpson from Ghana and Ali Kamé of Madagascar retained their titles.


Simpson won the Pentathlon with 6184 points and the men’s Decathlon was closed out for a second year by Kamé with 7409 points.


Simpson's series was (14.00 +1.8; 1.80; 13.58; 25.35 -0.5; 6.02 +1.6; 53.70; 2:20.34), and she was followed in second place by Belgium's Nafissatou Thiam with 5906pts, and in third was Ivory Coast's Gabriella Kouassi (5766).


In the men's Decathlon, local Guillaume Thierry was second (7356) and France's Daouda Amboudi (6289) was third.
