World champion Allyson Felix  takes us through her busy schedule on and off the track...

"Hi Everybody

"Here's an update on what I will be doing the next few weeks.

"I will race this Saturday (16 May) at the adidas Track Classic in the 200m and then will go to New York for the Reebok Grand Prix where I will run the 400.  I'm pleased with where my fitness is right now.  I still have a lot of work to do but I feel like I'm progressing after having a bit of a slow start this season.

“I'm really looking forward to the adidas track classic.  I think I've only missed one year since the beginning of the meet my senior year in high school.  I have lots of family and friends who are coming to support me.  For a lot of my family this is the only meet they are able to see me run in because of distance so it makes it very special.  This will be my first 200m and I'm very anxious to run it.

“On Wednesday (13 May), I participated in a press conference for the meet with Maurice Greene and Jenn Stucyznski and after that Maurice, I and Deedee Trotter assisted at a clinic with youngsters who will run in the Fastest Five-Year-Old Race on Saturday.

“Another meet that I love is USC-UCLA dual meet.  Even though I never ran for the Trojans I still spent four years of my life at USC and definitely support them 100 percent.  I watched the meet (on 2 May) with some of my training partners who are alumni of UCLA and things definitely got heated, but they were quiet when both USC men and women came away with the victory :)

“I had a great time opening my season in the Qatar Super Grand Prix where I won the 400m.  I always love going to this meet. I have this gift to be able to sleep on flights. So I think I slept the entire trip over, from LA to DC and then DC all the way to Doha.  About 17 hours total.

“Once we arrived I loved seeing all of the cultural differences, the women wearing hijabs and also the amazing architecture.  The people are so friendly and make you feel right at home.  I really enjoyed running and can't wait to go back next year.

“The Penn Relays was an amazing experience as always. There is really no meet in the world like it.  I enjoyed running on the 4x1 and 4x4 with my team mates.  I was shocked when Natasha (Hastings’) shoe came off.  I thought she ran a terrific leg and to do it with one shoe makes it all the more amazing.  She is a true competitor and that is exactly what team USA needs.

“Off the track, I am still very much involved with The Children's Miracle Network.  Although right now my visits to the hospital are limited because of my schedule I continue to work as an ambassador raising awareness for the children.

“I've really enjoyed spending time with my 3-year old yorkie Chloe.  The weather has been so nice here that we have enjoyed playing around in the backyard. I have also taken Chloe with me when I go on my long runs but we always have to run close to home so I can drop her off when she can't keep up any longer.

“Things have also been going really well with my fitness program Glisten, our membership numbers continue to grow and I'm really excited that the women are enjoying and benefiting from the workouts.

“We are getting ready to start our group exercise classes called Glisten in your city. These classes will take our Glisten workouts out of your inbox and into a group setting, you can find out more about Glisten in your City and Glisten at www.iglisten.net.

“Thanks for all your support.”
