“I’m just got back from a vacation in Jamaica and it’s time to start training again next week.
“It is always difficult for me to get back into the swing of things at the beginning of training. I know once I get back into my routine things will be easier. I have really enjoyed my time off and stayed away from any type of fitness on my break.
“Well, not try to stay away but I just tried to have a break completely away from track and enjoy my break.
“My training will start off with a lot of longer distance work and lots of reps in the weight room. It won't be any fun trying to get back in shape. Each week we will be working our times down with a variation of workouts. As time goes on the distance will get shorter and the times faster.
“Right now, my mind has been mostly on my trip to Jamaica rather than training. I had a great time in Jamaica. The people were so friendly and it was absolutely beautiful. I really didn't want to come back.
“I was there about a week. I chose to go there because I love to be by the water and they have beautiful beaches. While I was there I went horse riding, zip lining and spent a lot of time relaxing at the beach and the pool.
“Last Tuesday (28 Oct) I was honoured by my hometown of Santa Clarita, Calif. at their latest City Council meeting with four other Olympians, 400m bronze medallist David Neville, softball player Crystl Bustos, skeet shooter Kim Rhode and Mike Day, a silver medallist in BMX
“It was great to be there with the other Olympians who also reside in Santa Clarita. Everyone was so proud of us and it was a great feeling to know that so many people back home supported us and were cheering.’’
“That’s all for now.’’
