Two of athletics’ most popular performers, Blanka Vlasic and Emma Green, will compete in the high jump at the DN Galan meeting in Stockholm, an IAAF Diamond League meeting, on 21 August.

Vlasic is back at an elite level after struggling for several years with injuries.

She is currently ranked equal second in the world outdoors in 2014 after two 2.00m jumps in Paris and London this month.

“The Stockholm Stadium is where I achieved the second-best jump of my career when I broke the stadium record of 2.07m at DN Galan in 2007,” commented Vlasic.

“After the European Championships in Zurich, it will be fun to be at DN Galan again and experience the special atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium. I always get such strong support from the fans whenever I jump in Sweden,” added Croatia’s two-time world champion.

Emma Green has also had injury problems but is now competitive again on the international scene with a recent jump of 1.93m in London.

“It feels good to get my outdoor season going and London was a positive start. DN Galan is always one of the year’s high points and the spectators really know their high jump. It’s a competition I’m especially looking forward to,” said the local Swedish star.

In recent years, the women’s high jump has often been the highlight of DN Galan and this year the discipline has moved back to its classical position at the Marathon Gate end of the arena.
