Karlsruhe, GermanyWorld champion David Storl will be the headline act when the Shot Put returns to the Europa Halle on 12 February for the IHM Karlsruhe, the third meeting of the 2012 IAAF Indoor Permit series.

There has been little change in the life of the 21-year-old Storl since his surprise victory at the World Championships in Daegu this past summer, but, the young strongman notes, “The media interest has become very big."

That was witnessed by the large press turnout at Tuesday’s (6) opening press conference for the 28th edition of the Karlsruhe meeting where Storl was the main attraction.

Storl said he was particularly pleased that his event will be given a spotlight at this and other meetings on the indoor circuit where fans can watch and follow the action up close, and that he’s looking forward to the stiff competition that meeting director Alain Blondel has promised him.

The Karlsruhe audience is already looking forward to Storl. The Shot Put prodigy already witnessed this in 2010 when the venue hosted the German indoor championships.

"The enthusiasm swept over me in the hall," he said. "It was absolutely a positive experience.” Storl finished second at that competition.

In addition to the Shot Put, the men’s programme will also include the 60m, 400m, 1500m and 3000m. The women’s side of the afternoon will feature the 60m, 1500m, 3000m, 60m Hurdles, High Jump and Pole Vault.
