Patrick Johnson looks to recapture form in Perth
Perth, Australia - Patrick Johnson - the fastest 100 metres man in the world last year - returns to Perth on Saturday (10 Jan) and the lightning fast track where he first broke 10-seconds (wind assisted) for the distance.
Johnson is one of the top stars competing at the Telstra A-Series meeting in the Perry Lakes Stadium when Olympic year preparations get underway seriously for Australian medal hopefuls.
Before Johnson flew to his Oceanic record time of 9.93 in Japan, he recorded a wind-assisted 9.88 on the fast Perth surface.
Although unable to rekindle that form when joining the European circuit last summer, Johnson, who meets compatriot Matt Shirvington on Saturday, is aiming to make up for the disappointment this August in Athens.
World 400m hurdles champion Jana Pittman will also be action - but only in a demonstration event over a shorter hurdling distance of 330 metres.
Former World champion Dmitri Markov tackles the in-form Paul Burgess in the Pole Vault, while the 110m Hurdles features 10-times national champion Kyle Vander Kuyp.
