Writing on the eve of his IAAF Diamond League debut in Shanghai, IAAF Diamond League Ambassador Usain Bolt catches us up on what he's been up to on and off the track.

"Hi Folks,

"Hello from China where I have come for the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Shanghai.  Things are good so far and I hope to put on a good show for the Chinese fans on Sunday.  This is my second race in Asia having won the 100m in Daegu in Korea on Wednesday.  The Asian people have given me a great reception so far and I enjoy competing here.  Next week I go to Ostrava (27 May) where I will run the 300m.

"My season got off to a great start. Our club team Racers Track Club, representing Jamaica, won the Penn Relays 4x100m in a new meet record – thanks to Mario Forsythe, Yohan Blake, and Marvin Anderson for getting the baton to me in the lead and not giving me too much work to do.  Coach Glen Mills had us well drilled before the meet and we provided quite a treat for the over 54,000 screaming fans, lots of whom were Jamaicans, who helped to hype up the atmosphere.  Hope to see you guys come out to support in the New York meet in a few weeks.

"Off track I have been watching the NBA playoffs and supporting Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics who now have a 2-0 lead over the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference finals.  I will try to watch the Champions League final on Sunday morning but as Manchester United are out it does not have the same appeal  for me.  Since I have been here everyone has been asking who will win the World Cup.  I am not sure – Spain and Brazil are hotly tipped but I have always been an Argentina supporter so I will stick with them.  It will be interesting to see who comes out as the star of the tournament – I hope Sir Alex is watching closely as we could use a few more players!

"Over the last few months I have been busy with a few new business ventures. My new Puma Usain Bolt clothing line will be launched soon and last night we announced a partnership with Swiss watch company Hublot.  They have a diamond watch that costs $1 million – I better keep saving for that one.  I also entered an agreement to open a sports bar in Kingston later this year called Usain Bolt “ Tracks & Records” so if you are in Jamaica please check it out.  Just before the Kingston meet we opened the Lightning Bolt track at the University of West Indies in Mona in association with German company BSW Regupol.  They made the track in Berlin and yes, mine is blue as well.

"Until next time, lata and “to de world”.
One Love,
Usain
