The IAAF Council presided over by President Diack met for a second occasion in Moscow.
The Council met on Sunday 18 August, the morning of the last day of competition, to hear a short debrief and ask questions concerning the 14th edition of the IAAF World Championships and the 49th IAAF Congress which had been held in Moscow.
President Diack warmly praised the organisers for the successfully managed and exciting championships and the optimum working conditions that they had provided the global athletics family during their stay in the Russian capital. President Diack especially thanked his friend and Council Colleague Valentin Balakhnichev, IAAF Treasurer.
Area Associations
NACAC held its Congress on 6 August 2013 in Moscow, during which Victor Lopez of Puerto Rico was elected Area President and a number of Constitutional amendments were approved. By virtue of NACAC Presidency, Mr Lopez is the new NACAC Area Group Representative on the IAAF Council.

2014 Calendar
There were 3 IAAF World Challenge meetings which were still to confirm their date for 2014. The following are now confirmed for 2014:

Cross Country Seminar
The Seminar will be held on Monday, 9 December 2013, the day following the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia and will be chaired by Vice President Sebastian Coe.
YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES
The Timetable, previously approved by the Council in April 2014, has been amended slightly with the start time of the 8x100m Relay changed from 8:30 to 16:00.
