Jansson, 1952 Olympic marathon bronze medallist passes away at 90

Gustaf Nils Jansson (Sweden) (b. 5 Jan 1922 Brattfors, Värmland) died in April at the age of 90.

Jansson took the bronze medal behind Emil Zátopek and Reinaldo Gorno at the 1952 Oympic Games in Helsinki in 2:26:07 and was 5th in the Europeans in 1954. He was 2nd at Kosice in 1950 and 1954 and Swedish champion at marathon each year 1951-3 and at 25k 1950-3. His fastest time was 2:21:40 for 6th in Boston in 1955 but that was on a short course (41.1km).
