London, UK - Hansjörg Wirz of Switzerland has been re-elected as President of European Athletics for a fourth term (period 2011-2015) at the continental body’s Congress in London, defeating his challenger Svein Arne Hansen of Norway.
Jose Luis de Carlos (ESP), Karel Pilny (CZE) and Jean Gracia (FRA) were voted in as European Athletics Vice-Presidents.
Among the others elected to the EA Council were two Sydney 2000 Olympic champions, Decathlon winner Erki Nool and Romania’s 5000m gold medallist Gabriela Szabo.

Nick Davis (IRL), Anthony Chircop (MLT), Milan Pedalo (BIH) and Erich Teigamagi (EST) were voted onto the Development Committee.
Next EAA Congress will be held in April 2013 in Skopje, Macedonia. The autumn EAA Convention will be in Malta in 2012 and 2013 in Tallinn, EST.

Réélection du Président Wirz tandis que Nool et Szabo, champions olympiques à Sydney, entrent au Conseil de l'AEA
Londres, Royaume-Uni – Le Suisse Hansjörg Wirz a été réélu à la présidence de l'Association européenne d'athlétisme pour un quatrième mandat (période 2011-2015), à l'occasion du Congrès de l'instance dirigeante continentale à Londres. Il était opposé dans cette élection au Norvégien Svein Arne Hansen.
Jose Luis de Carlos (ESP), Karel Pilny (CZE) et Jean Gracia (FRA) ont été élus vice-présidents de l'AEA.
Parmi les autres membres élus au Conseil de l'AEA on peut relever les noms de deux champions olympiques de Sydney 2000: le vainqueur du décathlon, l'Estonien Erki Nool, ainsi que la médaillée d'or du 5000m, la Roumaine Gabriela Szabo.
