The IAAF confirms having filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration in Lausanne, Switzerland against the decisions rendered by RUSADA in the cases of Valeriy Borchin, Olga Kaniskina, Sergey Bakulin, Sergey Kirdyapkin, Vladimir Kanaykin and Yuliya Zaripova.
All six cases arose from the IAAF Athlete Biological Passport programme launched in 2009 and had been referred to the Russian authorities for adjudication in accordance with IAAF rules.
While the IAAF agrees with RUSADA that there is, in each case, sufficient evidence of an anti-doping rule violation and that there are aggravating circumstances justifying an increased sanction of more than two years, the IAAF disagrees with the selective disqualification of results applied by RUSADA as a consequence of the previous rulings.
The decision with respect to the case of Tatyana Chernova, arising from the re-analysis of her urine sample collected at the World Championships in Berlin in 2009 and kept by the IAAF as part of its retesting strategy, is still under review.
The IAAF will make no further comments pending the CAS proceedings.

L'IAAF confirme avoir interjeté appel auprès du Tribunal Arbitral du Sport à Lausanne (Suisse) des décisions rendues par RUSADA dans les cas de Valeriy Borchin, Olga Kaniskina, Sergey Bakulin, Sergey Kirdyapkin, Vladimir Kanaykin et Yuliya Zaripova.
Les six athlètes sanctionnés l’ont été dans le cadre du Programme du passeport biologique lancé par l’IAAF en 2009. Conformément aux règles en vigueur, les dossiers ont tous été soumis aux autorités russes pour statuer.
Si l'IAAF est en accord avec RUSADA pour considérer qu’il y a, dans chacun des cas, une preuve suffisante d'infraction aux règles antidopage avec circonstances aggravantes justifiant une sanction supérieure à deux ans, en revanche, l'IAAF est en désaccord concernant l'annulation sélective des résultats appliquée par RUSADA comme conséquence des conclusions précédentes.
La décision concernant le cas de Tatyana Chernova est toujours à l'étude. Le cas positif de cette athlète est consécutif à la ré-analyse de son échantillon urinaire prélevé aux Championnats du monde de Berlin en 2009 et conservé par l'IAAF conformément à sa politique de contrôles a posteriori.
L'IAAF ne fera aucun autre commentaire dans l'attente de la conclusion des cas par le TAS.
