Japanese official Yubi Inoue dies at the age of 84

The IAAF is sad to learn that Yubi Inoue passed away on Thursday (30) at the age of 84.

He became involved with the Japan Amateur Athletics Federation (now Japan Association of Athletics Federations) in 1969 as a technical committee member.

Later, he contributed to the success of many IAAF and AAA competitions held in Japan, including the 1991 IAAF World Championships, the 1997 IAAF Grand Prix Final, the 1999 IAAF World Indoor Championships, the 2006 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and the 2006 Asian Championships.

The funeral will be conducted in Tokyo on 8 May.

The IAAF passes on its deepest condolences to the friends and family of Yubi Inoue, who was a tireless and knowledgeable official and aficionado of the sport.
