Moses Masai wins Parelloop 10km in 27:22
Brunssum, The Netherlands - Despite a stiff breeze in the final 5km blowing away any chance of a World Record, World Cross Country 5th placer Moses Masai (KEN) posted the 5th fastest time ever to beat compatriots Micah Kogo and Joseph Ebuya in the Parelloop 10k, in Brunssum.
From the start it was last year's winner Micah Kogo and World Cross Country 4th placer Joseph Ebuya at the front of the field with Kogo aiming to improve his 2007 course record and 2nd fastest time ever of 27:07.
Masai, who has a track 10,000m personal best of 26:49, joined the leading duo at 3km which was passed in 8:06.
The trio went through 5km in 13:39 and stayed together through 8km in 21:56 with Kogo leading the charge. The pace picked up through 9km as all three athletes ran side by side across the road. With 800m to go Masai made his move and came home the winner in 27:22 with Kogo 2nd in 27:29 and Ebuya 3rd in 27:33.
