Radès, Tunisia – At the 11th edition of the Zitouna International Meeting of Tunis in Radès stadium on Saturday (28) Bahrain’s 25-year-old Rakia Al-Gassra, the 2006 Asian Games champion, powered to a sensational 22.45 sec win in the women's 200m.

The time would have improved Al-Gassra’s previous best of 22.80 from her run in Athens on 2 July 2007 but it was strongly wind aided at +3.1m/s.

Mali's Kamara Kadiatou was second in 23.04 secs.

The top event in the men’s division was the last on the programme, a breathtaking competition in the men’s 4x400m relay where Nigeria with James Godday struggled hard against a strong and well orchestrated squad from Saudi Arabia. The Nigeria team finished second with 3:02.08 while victory went to Saudi Arabia, 3:02.08.

There was no surprise in the Men’s Hammer Throw with Kuwait’s Ali Mohamed Al-Zinkawi, a 2007 World Championships finalist, among the starters. He was far from his personal best of 77.14m (2007) but 75.64 was enough for him to win.
