15 strides the right fit for world leader Jackson – Samsung Diamond League
Lausanne, Switzerland - Bershawn Jackson believes switching back to his former routine of 15 strides between hurdles can restore his career to his glory days of 2005 and 2006 when he was the World champion and the 400m Hurdles undisputed number one.
Since that halcyon period Jackson, despite being hindered by injuries, has still collected Olympic and World bronze medals, but generally has had to succumb to the dominance of fellow American's Kerron Clement and Angelo Taylor.
However the 27-year-old, whose personal best time of 47.30 won him the World gold medal in terrible weather conditions in Helsinki five years ago, recently revived memories of that superb victory.
After consultation with coach George Williams and abandoning the 14-stride routine he had undertaken on the advice of previous advisor Gary Winkler, Jackson has moved back to 15 strides and stormed to the USA national title in Des Moines last month.
47.32 in Des Moines no surprise
Last summer's World bronze medallist roared to a new stadium record with a fluent display of aggressive speed to win in his second fastest ever time of 47.32 and into the bargain demolishing Danny Harris's stadium record of 48.26.
