Stockholm, Sweden - Fellow IAAF Diamond League Ambassadors Tyson Gay (USA) and Asafa Powell (JAM) have been confirmed for the IAAF Diamond League DN Galan, Stockholm on 6 August.

Gay and Powell are in superb shape. Last Sunday, the American set a 200m straightaway world best on the streets of Manchester in a time of 19.41 secs, while two days before in the opening IAAF Diamond League meeting in Doha (14 May), Powell, after a dodgy start, powered to a 9.81 sec slightly breezy 100m performance following up on an even windier 9.75 qualifying heat.

In Stockholm, Gay and Powell will run the 100m, a race which last year saw Gay dominate with a splendid 9.79 wind assisted dash which left the Jamaican trailing in third (9.98).

“It is great to have Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell back at the DN Galan,” says Meeting Director Rajne Söderberg.

“Gay has shown great form all spring. His 400 metrs race in 44.89 is one of many good results during the early season, and likewise Powell’s opening in Doha promises a lot.”

“The 100 metres race at DN Galan will be extraordinary. Tyson Gay together with a motivated and hungry Asafa Powell will be a fantastic match-up!” concluded Söderberg.
