Asian Coach of the Year awarded in Guangzhou, China

The 2nd Congress Meeting of Association of Asian Athletics Coaches (AAAC) took place at the White Palace Hotel in Guangzhou, China during the 18th Asian Athletics Championships.

At the congress, Shunji KARUBE (JPN), Shigenobu MUROFUSHI (JPN), Songli LIANG (CHN), Kuigang YE (CHN) were honoured as Asian Coaches of the Year for 2008. Their athletes won the 4 bronze medals for Asia in men’s 4x100m Relay, men’s HT (pending IOC decision on final results), women’s marathon and women’s HT.

Tarek SABT (BRN) and Fengling ZHU (CHN) were honoured as Asian Coach of the Year 2009. These two coaches produced the Asian gold medalists in Berlin.

The Asian Coach of the Year Award started since 2004 when AAAC was officially founded. According to its regulations, a coach will be awarded as “Asian Coach of the Year” if his/her athlete:
1. wins a medal at the Olympic Games;
2. wins a gold medal at the IAAF World Championships;
3. breaks a World record.
