Beijing winners Taylor and Harper lead Eugene hurdles fields - IAAF World Athletics Tour

Eugene, USAThe 2008 Olympic podium trio in the men’s 400m Hurdles will be reunited at the Prefontaine Classic on 7 June.

The Prefontaine Classic is a Grand Prix status event as part of the 2009 IAAF World Athletics Tour.

Two-time gold medallist Angelo Taylor will take on silver medallist Kerron Clement and bronze medallist Bershawn Jackson who respectively won the 2007 and 2005 world titles. The stellar line up will also include Jamaican Isa Phillips, currently the world leader after his 48.36 run in Belem on Sunday. His compatriot Markino Buckley heading a group that includes No. 6 in the world Isa Phillips and No. 8 in the world Markino Buckley, a Beijing finalist, along with Americans James Carter and Kenneth Ferguson will also be in the field.

Even more medal-laden will be the women's 100m Hurdles, led by surprise Olympic gold medallist Dawn Harper who’ll face Canada’s Priscilla Lopes-Schliep, who sped to surprise bronze in Beijing. Lopes-Schliep is currently the world leader after her 12.52 victory in Doha earlier this month, a career best for the 26-year-old.

Also in the field will be the two-time defending World champion Michelle Perry and Canada’s Perdita Felicien, the 2003 World champion. Filling out the field will be top Jamaican Brigitte Foster-Hylton and American Damu Cherry who was fourth in Beijing.

With the addition of these two events, the number of Beijing medallists in the 35th Prefontaine Classic now totals 16, with the jumps, sprints, and distances still to be announced.
