The Prefontaine Classic is a Grand Prix status event as part of the 2009 IAAF World Athletics Tour.

Two-time gold medallist Angelo Taylor will take on silver medallist Kerron Clement and bronze medallist Bershawn Jackson who respectively won the 2007 and 2005 world titles. The stellar line up will also include Jamaican Isa Phillips, currently the world leader after his 48.36 run in Belem on Sunday.
