With the men’s high jump being one of the main events in the past two editions of the IAAF Diamond League in Lausanne, the 2014 Athletissima meeting will once again will gather together the best exponents of this event in the world, the meeting organisers confirmed on Monday (19).

Ukraine’s world champion Bohdan Bondarenko, who set a stadium record of 2.41m when winning in Lausanne last year, will face Russia’s Ivan Ukhov, the Olympic champion and Athletissima winner in 2010, who has cleared 2.42m this winter.

Both athletes have already showed they are in great shape. Ukhov won in the first IAAF Diamond League meeting of the year in Doha just over a week ago with 2.41m and Bondarenko won two days later in Tokyo with 2.40m.

Canada’s Derek Drouin, who has jumped 2.40m already this summer, Qatar’s world indoor champion Mutaz Barshim and Russia’s Aleksey Dmitrik, who went over 2.40m indoors this winter, complete the picture.

In addition to these five men, 2012 Olympic silver medallist Erik Kynard will also be in the competition

Pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie, the world record holder, will also be one of the star attractions of the evening.

The Frenchman leapt 6.16m indoors in Donetsk, Ukraine, on 15 February.

The reigning Olympic and European champion has also won in Lausanne three times in previous years and started off his 2014 Diamond League campaign with a win in Shanghai on Sunday.

Shot putter Valerie Adams, who has gone undefeated for 47 major events  a streak which includes a win in Lausanne two years ago will also be in action. The champion from New Zealand has an incredible record of two Olympic gold medals, four outdoor and three indoor world titles.

In the 110m hurdles, Moscow 2013 gold medallist David Oliver has also confirmed his presence in Lausanne this year after two previous victories in the Swiss city.
