Gold medalJacko GILL (NZL) 24.35

"A new World Youth Record, the Gold Medal, what else I want to get? This morning I was already sure that I will put the shot over 24 metres. I already reached it a few times in training and today I did it three times - I'm sure that I can do even more... Even with my worst throw I could have won the competition.

I really spend a lot of time in training, at least 6-7 hours each day and I started doing the rotation technique three years ago. For that I do a lot of sprints to become fast and dynamic. I am so glad, I already won the World Junior Championships in Moncton, now the World Youth Championships - my career can keep on going like this....

“From now I can enjoy my free time and the Championships as a spectator. I'm going to start in

Stockholm this year, before I have to put the 6kg-shot next season."

Silver medal - Tyler SCHULTZ (USA) 20.35

"Actually I was very nervous during the competition, but the nervousness helped me to throw. I've done the training all the year around for today's performance. I made a mistake during my first attempt but this didn't affect my final result. I'm excited to make this breakthrough for my personal best: 20.35m. Both my team-mate and I competed very well today."

Bronze medal - Braheme DAYS (USA) 20.14

"Jacko Gill's performance is magic. I beat my personal best with 20.14, I'm so happy. With this medal and Tyler's medal, USA has got two guys on the podium. It's fantastic. I'm living in New Jersey and I train 4 hours a day. For the future, this championship brings me a great experience. My season is finished with this medal. It's perfect!"
