MonteCarloAt its deadline of midnight on 1 December 2006, the IAAF had received confirmation of the candidatures of FIVE Member Federations seeking to host editions of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, in either 2011 or 2013.
The candidates are as follows:
Barcelona (ESP) – 2013 only
Brisbane (AUS) – 2011 & 2013
Daegu (KOR) – 2011 & 2013
Göteborg (SWE) – 2011 & 2013
Moscow (RUS) – 2011 & 2013
Having received the candidates’ documentation, the IAAF will now study the bid files and then proceed with an evaluation visit of the cities.
The hosts of the 2011 and 2013 World Championships in Athletics will be selected and announced on the occasion of the IAAF Council Meeting in Mombasa, Kenya, on 27 March 2007.
The 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics will be held in Osaka, Japan in 2007, and the 12th edition of the championships will be hosted by Berlin, Germany in 2009.
