Cloete and Hurtis - to become mothers

Two world class athletes, Hestrie Cloete and Muriel Hurtis have recently announced that they are pregnant.

Cloete, South Africa's double World High Jump champion and twice Olympic silver-medallist has announced she is in the second month of pregnancy. Cloete, 26, who was married to her husband Andries in 1998, said on Friday 12 November: "It is still too early to say if it will be a boy or a girl, but I have no preference. As long I have a healthy baby, I will be thankful."

There is joy too for France’s Muriel Hurtis who is also set to become a mother in 2005. A member of France's World 4x100m Relay gold medal squad, and the reigning European indoor and outdoor 200m champion, the 25 year-old revealed to L’Equipe that she competed in Athens knowing she was pregnant, and is now some five months gone. Her partner is the rap singer Kamel.
