Cloete and Hurtis - to become mothers

Two world class athletes, Hestrie Cloete and Muriel Hurtis have recently announced that they are pregnant.

Cloete, South Africa's 2001 and 2003 world high jump champion and two-time Olympic Games silver medallist has well as the 2003 World Athlete of the Yaer, as announced she is in the second month of pregnancy.

Cloete, 26, said on Friday 12 November: "It is still too early to say if it will be a boy or a girl, but I have no preference. As long I have a healthy baby, I will be thankful."

There is joy too for France’s Muriel Hurtis who is also set to become a mother in 2005.

A member of France's World 4x100m Relay gold medal squad, and the reigning European indoor and outdoor 200m champion, the 25 year-old revealed to L’Equipe that she competed in Athens knowing she was pregnant, and is now some five months gone. Her partner is the rap singer Kamel.
