Decathlon - Event Five - 400m

In the final event of the first day of the men’s Junior Decathlon, the 400 metres, there was no change at the top of the table, with Krauchanka hanging on to the pole position with 862 points from the 400 metres taking his halfway point total to  4341 points, giving him a 141 point advantage over Norman Muller. Aleksey Sysoyev remained in third position trailing Muller by just 37 points.

An excellent run from Andres Silva, with 46.79 seconds making him the fastest of the decathletes in the one lap race gave him 969 points for this event and allowed him to edge back into fourth place with 4115 points to date.

At this stage, Pelle Rietveld from the Netherlands remains in contention with 4047 points, with 164 points separating him from the sixth-placed Janis Skrastins of Latvia (3883).

The competition resumes tomorrow with the 110m Hurdles.
