European all-time best in Weight throw

Slovakian Hammer Throw national record holder and seventh placer from Athens Libor Charfreitag, who lives and trains in Dallas, Texas is in the shape of his life.

At the United Heritage Invitational in Nampa, Idaho he twice achieved on Friday (4 Feb) a new European Indoor best in the Weight Throw. His first throw of 25.25m bettered his own best mark (since February 2003, also in Nampa) by 22cm, and on his fifth throw he managed 3 centimetres more to record 25.28m. Only Lance Deal had ever three better throws at US Nationals 1995 and 1996 in Atlanta (25.86, 25.48 and 25.29).

Charfreitag had a fine series with three throws over 25 metres: 25.25 – 25.18 – 24.84 – 24.74 – 25.28 – f. In the history of 25m throws – they are 10 after Friday, 6 belong to Deal and 4 to the Slovakian thrower.
