A fast women's 60m Hurdles contest is in the cards for the IHM Karlsruhe meeting at the Europahalle on 12 February.
The IHM Karlsruhe competition is an IAAF Indoor Permit Meeting.
Among those joining the field is Kellie Wells, last year's U.S. champion and the fastest in the world in 2011 at 7.79. She'll be joined by compatriot Lolo Jones, the two-time defending World indoor champion, who has become a regular fixture in Karlsruhe. The 29-year-old's first sub-7.80 race came at the Europahalle in 2008.
Local fans will have a plenty to watch as well as Carlin Nytra, the 2011 European indoor champion, returns to action after injury forced her to the sidelines during the outdoor season last year. The 2010 European bronze medallist outdoors, Nytra, 26, has 7.80 and 12.57 career bests in the hurdles events at 60m and 100m respectively.
Jennifer Oeser, the World bronze medallist in the Heptathlon last year, was previously announced for the race.
The women's 60m Hurdles have pride of place in Karlsruhe, as the meeting hosted and witnessed the stunning 7.68 World record set by Swede Susanna Kallur in 2008. Jones was a distant second in that race at 7.77, but has since improved to 7.72, her national record that propelled her to World indoor gold in 2010 and to the No. 3 position in the event all-time.
Besides the star-studded women's 60m Hurdles, a head-to-head between former World outdoor champion Christian Cantwell of the U.S. and his successor German David Storl, has already been announced. The meet will also feature Germany High Jump star Ariane Friedrich and a square off between German pole vaulters Martina Strutz and Silke Spiegelburg. The latter improved her own German record to 4.77m on Sunday.
