Last season it was the men who went after the unofficial World indoor best in the rarely run 300m, and in 2007 it’s the women’s turn at the Tyson Invitational with World 200m champion Allyson Felix (USA) scheduled to compete at the meet on 9 February 2007 at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

“Last year we put together a tremendous 300m race for the men,” said Tyson Invitational meet director Art Huff.  “This time it’s the women’s turn...."

The time that Felix and the rest of the field will be gunning for is the 14-year-old mark of Russian Irina Privalova who ran 35.45 in Moscow back on 17 January 1993, and there is a $50,000 prize pool for anyone who succeeds.

Felix enters the race with career bests of 22.11 in the 200 and 51.12 for 400 metres.

At the 2006 Tyson Invitational, three runners exceeded the men’s 300m time of Robson da Silva with World Championships 200m silver medallist Wallace Spearmon collecting the prize money with his time of 31.88.
