Finland sends team of eight to Sherbrooke

The Finnish U18 national team set off this morning from Helsinki airport for the 3rd IAAF World Youth Championships in Athletics, which takes place in (9-13.7.2003) in Sherbrooke, Canada.

Given the country’s Athletics history, two of the eight member team are Javelin throwers, who with 72m marks to their names will be looking for some success.


Boys (Club in brackets)

Pole Vault:
Juho Juhola (Kankaanpään Urheilijat) 4.70.

Discus:
Sami Hannuksela (Ähtärin Urheilijat) 56.27.

Hammer:
Petri Mättölä (Karhulan Urheilijat) 71.62.

Javelin:
Ari Inkerö (Saarenkylän Nuorisoseuran Urheilijat) 72.55.

Javelin (700 g):
Tero Ojala (Lohtajan Veikot) 72.36.

Octathlon:
Sami Itani (Jyväskylän Kenttäurheilijat)  7020 pts –Decathlon.
 

Girls (Club in brackets)

Triple jump:
Elina Sorsa (Lappeenrannan Urheilu-Miehet) 13.02.

5000m race walk:
Mia Hovi (Vihdin Viesti) 24.36.1.
