24 participants representing 17 Athletics South Africa (ASA) provinces (8 females) attended the launch of the first IAAF Level I Lecturers Course of the new programme intended for Schools and Clubs.

The course was held in Pretoria at the High Performance Centre and was  launched on the 10th and ended on the 15th of April 2008.

During the course, a competition for Kids Athletics was organised in which 48 children (24 boys and 24 girls) took part. They were very enthusiastic and excited to discover the new modified equipment. All the kids enjoyed the competition and were very happy to get their first certificate of participation.

The participants of the first IAAF Level I Lecturers Course were asked to implement the new programme in their respective provinces (schools and clubs) by the end of this year.

The feedback received indicated that they were eager to start implementing the new programme which they found well adapted to the kids, and they appreciated that the new programme stressed the current mind set of coaches who are supporting early specialisation.

The course was conducted by  Malek El Hebil (IAAF) and Loretta Marthinus (ASA).
