First Spanish steps for Chief Coach Course

On 5 December 2005, the Chief Coach Course of the IAAF World Academy for Coaches was officially opened in Santa Fe, Argentina. This is the first Spanish speaking course of this kind carried out in the world.

The course is being delivered at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral facilities, a prestigious Argentinean University and one of the oldest in South America. This year, the IAAF made an agreement with this University and now it is part of the group of five Universities in the world cooperating with the IAAF in the task of developing human resources for the IAAF World Academy for Coaches.

This course has the peculiarity of delivering the introductory initial part through distance learning, a new experience within the sphere of the IAAF and it will surely play an important role in the future of Coaches Education.

Participants come from ten (10) South American Spanish speaking and two (2) English speaking countries and also two (2) from Central American Spanish speaking countries. The course will last until 18 December 2005.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Rector of Universidad Nacional del Litorar, Ing. Mario Barletta and the President of CONSUDATLE and IAAF Council Member, Dr. Roberto Gesta de Melo.
