The 2013-2016 IAAF Strategic Plan has six Core Values: universality, leadership, unity, excellence, integrity and solidarity, and a Vision Statement: “To lead, govern and develop the sport of athletics in all its forms worldwide, uniting the Athletics Family in a spirit of excellence, integrity and solidarity.”
Lyudmila Galkina (RUS) Gold
"First of all I would like to thank all my opponents for helping me to get the utmost from me.
We all knew that the first one to jump seven metres would be the sure winner.
Although I had a slight headache I managed it.
Last but not least I would thank all my sponsors".
-Niki Xanthou (GRE)Silver
"I am really happy that I have finally won a medal.
I could have won the gold medal with a jump of about 7 metres, something of which I knew I was capable.
Today I defeated athletes who are usually ahead of me.
In a World Championships however, every athlete starts from scratch and you have to prove you can do your best.
My thanks to all the Greek fans who proved they can fill a stadium."
-Fiona May (ITA) Bronze
"As defending champion, I must be disappointed with the bronze.
The second & third round were both very long jumps but they were fouls.
At least I tried."
