GoldBrimin Kiprop KIPRUTO, KEN

We had a plan as a team to run together until the final 400 metres. I am so happy. It's the first time I won a gold medal. We will celebrate tonight as a team, as a country.
When I saw I had already won, and my fellow Kenyans came in 1-2-3, I started celebrating, because my country took 1,2 and 3.

Silver - Ezekiel KEMBOI, KEN

First two laps were very slow. We could not expect a fast time at sub 8.10 level. But it was good for our team tactics. All worked out perfectly. I thank God for this medal although before the race I was of course thinking about win. But Kipruto is strong and I am happy for his win. Next year will be even more important, I want to defend my Olympic title.

Bronze - Richard Kipkemboi MATEELONG, KEN

When I saw my colleagues in the front, I realized I still had the energy to complete the Kenyan sweep. We wanted to make the race a Kenyan affair, and we accomplished it. I'm very proud of it, especially as it is my first participation in a world championships.

Fourth: Mustafa MOHAMED SWE
I found out very early that I had to do the tough work in leading. The Kenyans held back all the time until the last lap. When they passed me with only 400 metres to go, I felt that I lost the medal. My technique over the steeple was bad and I came fifth. Later, at least, I managed to overtake the Bahraini and came fourth. I am very disappointed.
