Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

The competition is open to all users of the IAAF website aged 16 or over who are eligible under these rules, with the exception of employees of the IAAF, IAAF Council Members, IAAF Committee Members, IAAF Commission Members and members of their immediate family or any other person who is connected with the creation or administration of this competition.

All entrants must possess a valid passport, be able to travel on the allocated dates and meet the necessary entry requirements, including visa conditions.

By entering this competition, the entrant shall be deemed to have read and understood these rules and to be bound by them.

2. Competition Period

The competition shall run from 26 May 2004 to midnight (Central European time) on 10 June 2004.

3. Prizes

The first prize shall be:

  • An invitation for 2 persons as guests of the IAAF to the World Athletics Final in Monaco on 18-19 September 2004. This invitation includes economy class flights from the nearest international airport to the contestant’s place of residence to Nice airport, transport from Nice Airport to Monaco and back, accommodation in Monaco for two nights, seats at the World Athletics Final for two days, with VIP hospitality access and entrance to the World Athletics Gala and dinner. Suitable clothes must be brought for the Gala (suit, shirt with collar and tie for men, dress for women; dress shoes for both – no sneakers/sports shoes).

There shall be 10 runners up prizes of:

  • TDK Golden League gifts

Prizes shall be as stated. No cash alternative shall be available. Any additional cost or requirements involved, including, without limitation, holiday, travel and health insurance cover shall be the responsibility of the prize winner.

4. Entries

To enter the competition, the entrant must answer the before mentioned questions related to the 2004 edition of the TDK Golden League:

There shall be only one entry per person. Duplicate entries are not permitted and only the first entry shall be accepted. Entries must be submitted using the on line form on the IAAF web site and by no other means. In the event of any dispute, all submitted entries shall be deemed to have been submitted by the owner of the e-mail account entered in the competition entry form.

The IAAF reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these rules.

In order to send out prizes, entrants shall be required to submit their full name and postal address when entering the competition, in addition to their e-mail address. Any personal data relating to entrants shall be used solely for the purposes of administering this competition and shall not be disclosed to a third party without the individual’s prior consent.

5. Selection of Winners

The winner shall be the entrant whose form contains the correct answers. In the case of a tie, a blind draw shall be conducted by the IAAF General Secretary. This blind draw shall be used to select the winner and, if the tie involves 11 or less entries, those who are not selected as winner shall automatically receive runners up prizes. When more than eleven entrants have the correct answers the runners up prizes shall be awarded using if required the same tie-break rules as mentioned above.

The IAAF General Secretary’s decision, as judge, is final and binding and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into in relation to it.

Winners shall be notified by e-mail and names posted on the Internet on 13 September 2004. The winner of the first prize must confirm their acceptance of the prize and availability to travel to Monaco no later than midnight on 14 September (Monaco time). If the winner fails to claim their prize within this time, the first prize may be awarded to a substitute winner. Any unclaimed prize remains the property of the IAAF.

6. Miscellaneous

The promoter of the competition is the IAAF. The competition and all accompanying materials are the copyright of the IAAF. All rights are reserved.

To the maximum extent allowed by the law, the IAAF reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition or these rules at any time without prior notice. Any changes to the rules shall be notified on the website.

In the event of any dispute regarding these rules, the decision of the IAAF shall be final and binding and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.

By entering this competition, entrants release the IAAF and its representatives from any kind of liability arising out of, or in connection with, the competition or with the acceptance or use of any prize in the competition (including, without limitation, any and all damages, claims, losses, personal injury or damage to property).

The IAAF cannot accept any responsibility for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software failure of any e-mail or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or any combination of the above or any damage to the entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in the competition.

The competition and these rules shall be governed by Monegasque law.
