Grosseto-Howe film wins two prizes at Sportel's Golden Podium Awards

MonteCarloLast night at the Georges Bertellotti Golden Podium Awards held during the 15th annual Sportel Monaco convention for TV sports programming (11 – 14 October), Director Marco Camilloni’s video surrounding Andrew Howe’s performances at the World Junior Championships in Grosseto, Italy this summer (13-18 July) which was filmed for the IAAF won two awards.

Camilloni’s film which focused on Italian junior superstar Howe who won both the 200m and the Long Jump at the Championships, was the only entrant to be honoured twice during the evening. The film won in the Golden Podium category for “Best Slow Motion Sequence”, and secondly the Radio France Prize for the “Best Sound Illustration”.

The trophy awarded for each category winner was a sculpture based upon artist Raymond Moretti’s original work.

The Golden Podium Competition, was created by Georges Bertellotti, to honour the world’s best television sports images, and was held in the presence of HSH Crown Prince Albert of Monaco, and International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge.

Olympic TV Figures

Commenting on the TV figures for the recent Olympic Games Mr. Rogge said that 300 Channels in 220 countries had covered the Athens Games contributing to a total of 35,000 hours of television broadcasts, on average about 2000 hours per day, a huge 27% increase on the figures for Sydney.

In terms of overall viewer numbers Athens attracted an audience of 3.9 billion TV spectators, while Sydney attracted 3.6 billion.
