Britain's Jamie Baulch will not be competing in the forthcoming European Indoor Championships, which will take place in Valencia between 27 February and 1 March, following a hamstring injury in training.

Baulch took silver in the 400m last year's World Indoor Championships in Paris behind Nigeria's Sunday Bada and was one of the favourites for the event in Valencia.

"It's disappointing missing the Europeans, especially after I ran so well indoors last year," Baulch said in London on Tuesday.

"I have been to Germany to get my hamstring sorted out. There was no point in taking risks, especially with the track in Valencia being very tight. There is a very busy summer ahead."
