Monte-Carlo - The IAAF can announce a major new broadcasting rights agreement for the Latin American region which will ensure widespread "free to air" coverage of the next IAAF World Championships in Athletics which takes place in Berlin from August 15-23 2009.
The agreement, recently reached with the Pan regional group "Organizacion de Telecomunicaciones Ibero Americanas" (OTI) - ensures guaranteed coverage of the IAAF's leading competition on free to air channels in the following countries: Argentina - TYC Sports; Bolivia - Red Uno; Chile - UCAT; Mexico -TV Azteca; Panama - TV MAX and MEDCOM; and finally in Peru - ATV.
The IAAF is also delighted to announce the first ever agreement for an IAAF World Championships in Athletics, in Cuba, with the "Instituto Cubano de Radio y Television" (ICRT) which will ensure widespread coverage in a country famous for its top athletes.
Finally, the IAAF has concluded an agreement with ESPN International in the region for all IAAF World Athletic Series competitions for the period 2009-2011.
With additional broadcasting agreements still under negotiation for the Berlin World Championships, the IAAF is pleased that Berlin will already have the widest territorial coverage of any World Championships in Athletics to date.
IAAF President Lamine Diack, welcoming this latest package of TV deals achieved in cooperation with Dentsu Inc., the IAAF's exclusive worldwide partner for the exploitation of commercial rights, said: "This is a significant breakthrough for the premier event of our sport. The World Championships in Berlin is now receiving unprecedented coverage on free terrestrial television which is the best way to build up a new generation of athletics fans for the future in every part of the world."

IAAF SIGNE UN ACCORD DE DIFFUSION EN AMERIQUE LATINE POUR BERLIN 2009 ET AU DELA
Monte-Carlo – L’IAAF est en mesure d’annoncer un nouvel accord de droits de diffusion concernant la région Amérique Latine qui permettra une large couverture hertzienne des prochains Championnats du Monde d’Athlétisme de Berlin (Allemagne) du 15 au 23 août 2009.
En effet, l’accord passé récemment avec le groupe régional panaméricain "Organizacion de Telecomunicaciones Ibero Americanas" (OTI) – garantit une retransmission de la principale compétition de l’IAAF par les chaines terrestres gratuites des pays suivants : Argentine - TYC Sports; Bolivie - Red Uno; Chili - UCAT; Mexique -TV Azteca; Panama - TV MAX et MEDCOM; et enfin Pérou - ATV.
L’IAAF a également le plaisir d’annoncer un accord historique intervenu avec «l’Instituto Cubano de Radio y Television » (ICRT) à Cuba, grâce auquel les Championnats du Monde d’Athlétisme seront diffusés dans un pays célèbre pour ses athlètes de haut niveau.
Enfin, pour cette même région, l’IAAF a conclu un accord avec ESPN International pour toutes les compétitions de la Série Mondiale de l’Athlétisme pour la période 2009-2011.
D’autres contrats sont actuellement en cours de négociations pour les Mondiaux 2009 mais d’ores et déjà, Berlin fait l’objet de la plus vaste couverture pour des championnats du monde. Le Président de l’IAAF, Lamine Diack, a accueilli avec joie ces signatures obtenues en coopération avec Dentsu Inc., son agence marketing qui détient l’exclusivité de ses droits télé : "C’est une avancée très significative pour notre compétition phare. Les Championnats du Monde d’Athlétisme de Berlin bénéficieront ainsi d’une couverture sans précédent sur les chaînes de télévision terrestre (en libre accès) ce qui est le meilleur moyen de sensibiliser une nouvelle génération à l’athlétisme, de séduire un nouveau public à travers le monde et de construire pour l’avenir."
