Monte-Carlo - The IAAF has provisionally suspended seven athletes* from Russia for doping offences, a decision which has been acknowledged by the All Russia Athletics Federation (ARAF).
The athletes have been charged under IAAF Rules 32.2 (b) and 32.2 (e) for a fraudulent substitution of urine which is both a prohibited method and also a form of tampering with the doping control process. These rule violations were established following the deliberate storage of samples by the IAAF and re-analysis using comparative DNA techniques, and were the result of a specific investigation which was instigated and carried out by the IAAF for more than a year.
The IAAF will make no further comment until a final decision has been taken by the ARAF, which now takes over the responsibility to adjudicate these cases.

Under IAAF Rules, athletes have up to 14 days to request a hearing with the National Member Federation. If a hearing is requested, it must be held within a period of two months.

Des investigations antidopage menées par l’IAAF conduisent à la suspension provisoire d’athlètes russes
L’IAAF a suspendu provisoirement sept athlètes* de nationalité russe pour infractions aux règles antidopage, une décision dont a pris acte la Fédération Russe d’Athlétisme (ARAF).
Des poursuites disciplinaires ont été engagées à l’encontre des athlètes sur le fondement des règles 32.2 (b) et 32.2 (e) de l’IAAF, pour substitution d’urine qui constitue à la fois une méthode interdite et une forme de falsification du processus de contrôle antidopage. Ces infractions ont été établies au moyen d’échantillons conservés et soumis à des analyses ADN comparatives, à l’issue d’investigations menées par l’IAAF depuis plus d’un an.
L’IAAF ne fera aucun autre commentaire jusqu’à ce qu’une décision soit rendue par l’ARAF, qui a désormais la responsabilité de juger ces cas disciplinaires.

En vertu des règles de l’IAAF, les athlètes disposent de 14 jours pour solliciter une audience disciplinaire auprès de leur fédération. Si une audience est demandée, elle doit se tenir dans un délai de 2 mois.
