IAAF President Lamine Diack meets new President of Moroccan Federation

MonteCarloThe newly elected President of the Moroccan Royal Athletics Federation (FRMA) Abdeslam Ahizoune, together with Council Member and FRMA Vice-President Nawal El Moutawakel, visited the IAAF Headquarters in Monaco on 24 January to meet IAAF President Lamine Diack and IAAF General Secretary Pierre Weiss.

Mr Ahizoune stressed how strongly the FRMA supports the efforts of the IAAF and its President’s to promote athletics and its stars around the world. He also presented the current status of the sport in Morocco and the ongoing restructuring of the FRMA.

A two-way collaboration was discussed, mainly in the fields of athletes’ development, coaches’ training and improving the level of Moroccan expertise in sports’ administration.

The two Presidents also discussed the delicate issue of transfer of allegiance of Moroccan athletes especially with regards to the forthcoming World Championships in Athletics, Osaka, Japan. Both parties agreed to strengthen their collaboration in order to help athletics develop even further in Morocco.
