IAAF ratifies four senior and two junior World Records

First man under 1:44 was Marcello Fiasconaro (ITA) was 1:43.7 in Milan on June 27 1973.

First man under 1:45 was Peter Snell (NZL) was 1:44.3 in Christchurch on February 3 1962.

*Please note that Kipketer also ran 1:41.73 (Stockholm-July 7) and 1:41.11 (Cologne-August 24) this season but these marks have not yet been ratified.
