- Entry Rules
- Each Member is entitled to enter two, three or four competitors per event, provided all have achieved the corresponding "A" entry standard but only three will be permitted to compete.
- Each Member is entitled to enter two competitors per event who have reached the "B" entry standard for that event but only one will be permitted to compete
- Members who have no male and/or no female qualified athletes whom they wish to enter in any event may enter one unqualified male athlete and/or one unqualified female athlete in one event except the 10,000m, 3000m Steeplechase and the Combined Events.
- The acceptance of unqualified entries in the Field Events is at the discretion of the Technical Delegates.
- Conditions
- Performances must be achieved during the qualification period of 1 January 2004 to 25 July 2005 (midnight-local time). Nevertheless, the performances achieved during the meeting of Stockholm 2005 (July 26th) will be accepted.
- Performances must be achieved during competitions organised or authorised by the IAAF, its Area Associations or its Member Federations. Results achieved at university or school competitions must be certified by the National Federation of the country in which the competition was organised. For the Relays, the Marathons and the Race Walking see hereunder.
- Performances must be achieved during official competitions organised in conformity with IAAF Rules.
- Performances achieved in mixed events between male and female participants, held completely in the Stadium, will not be accepted (see IAAF Rule 147) with the exception of local competitions held in Oceania.
- Wind-assisted performances will not be accepted
- Hand-timed performances in 100m, 200m, 400m, 110m/100m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles and 4x100m Relay will not be accepted.
- Indoor performances for all field events and for races of 200m and longer, will be accepted.
- Lower ages limit: for the Marathon Races and the 50km Race Walk Men, senior athletes only (any athlete aged 20 years and over on 31 December 2005) will be accepted.
- Relays:
- The list of competitions at which entry standards can be achieved is attached and is on the IAAF website.
- the teams qualified in 2004 are listed hereunder.
- FIN, as host Federation is qualified in all four races.
- Marathons:
- Only performances achieved during competitions recognised by the IAAF will be accepted.
- These courses must have been measured after January 1st, 2000 by an IAAF/AIMS "A" or "B" measurer and respect the 1% downhill rule.
- The list of the competitions at which entry standards can be achieved is attached and is on the IAAF website.
- Race Walking Events:
- 2004: all the results achieved during this season are considered as valid for qualification purposes;
- 2005: to count as a qualifying competition for the World Championships a race walking event must comply with the following conditions;
- the course must have been measured by an IAAF/AIMS "A" or "B" Measurer
- minimum 3 IAAF Race Walking Judges (level III or II) have to be on duty
- the list of competitions at which entry standards can be achieved is attached and is on the IAAF website.
