European 100m champion and world 100m silver medallist Dafne Schippers will run that distance at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Monaco on Friday 15 July, the Herculis meeting organisers announced on Monday (13).

The Dutch sprinter established an IAAF Diamond League 200m record of 21.93 in Oslo last Thursday and the Monaco organisers hope that the world 200m champion will be in record-breaking form again next month, immediately after defending her European 100m title on home soil in Amsterdam.

Schippers could step on to the Stade Louis II track with the current IAAF Diamond League 100m record in mind, the standard being 10.70 set by Carmelita Jeter in Eugene back in 2011.

She will also need no reminding that the European 100m record of 10.73, which belongs to France’s Christine Arron, was set almost 18 years ago.
