Impressive head to heads set for 100m Hurdles and Triple Jump in Rome - Samsung Diamond League

With eight days to go to the Compeed Gala – Samsung Diamond League meeting on Thursday 31 May in Rome’s Olympic Stadium new scintillating names have been added to the already great cast of the third leg of the 2012 series of 14 invitational meetings.

In the 100m Hurdles, Lolo Jones, twice World Indoor champion (2008 and 2010) at the 60m Hurdles, will line-up on the Olympic Stadium’s track. Jones whose PB is 12.43sec shares the same career best time as her compatriot Michelle Perry, twice outdoor World champion (2005 and 2007). ,

The USA will also be represented by reigning Olympic champion Dawn Harper and Daegu 2011 World silver medallist Danielle Carruthers who will take on Canadian Priscilla Lopes Schliep and Great Britain’s Tiffany Porter.

In this world-class hurdles race Italian hopes will be carried by fresh national record holder Marzia Caravelli.

In the women’s Triple Jump two more big stars have been added to the line-up which already features World Indoor champion Yamile Aldama and European Indoor champion and European Outdoor silver medallist Simona La Mantia. They are reigning World champion Olga Saladukha (PB 14.98) from Ukraine and Russian Tatyana Lebedeva who has won three Olympic medals (two silvers and one bronze) and five world medals (two gold, one silver outdoors and one gold and one silver indoors) in the Triple Jump event.

Meanwhile, a new rival joins the super-fast men’s 100 metres which features the already announced Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Christophe Lemaitre and Kim Collins. The fifth sprinter in the line-up will be Jamaican Lerone Clarke, who equalled his PB from 2009 clocking 9.99 in Doha.
