22 February 2008World, Olympic and European Heptathlon champion Carolina Klüft of Sweden looks set to pull out of next month's 12th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain (7- 9 March) due to a thigh injury.

The news was confirmed by Swedish national team doctor Sverker Nilsson to the Swedish news agency TT.

Klüft withdrew from the GE Galan in Stockholm last night (21) after injuring herself in warm-up – click here for full meeting report including original news of injury – and underwent an MRI scan today.

"There is a rupture of her right hamstring muscle but it is so small you cannot even see it on the MRI. There is a little bleeding also and you can see the tenderness on the muscle.”

"It's a minimal burst, but it still means the indoor season is ruined," confirmed Nilsson.
