After taking their fifth wins of the IAAF Golden League 2007 in Brussels last night (14), Sanya Richards (USA) in the women’s 400m and Yelena Isinbayeva (RUS) in the women’s Pole Vault remain on course to share the US$ 1 Million Golden League Jackpot payout at the finale of the series the DKB-ISTAF Berlin meeting in Berlin, Germany on Sunday (16).
Richards and Isinbayeva are the only athletes to have taken victories at all five meetings of 2007 - Oslo, Norway (15 Jun), Paris, France (6 Jul), Rome, Italy (13 Jul), Zürich, Switzerland (7 Sep), and Brussels, Belgium (14 Sep) - but to secure their shares of the One Million Dollar prize they need to win again in Berlin.
Both athletes looked in confident mood in the Belgian capital but what if they don’t succeed in Berlin? What are all the possible Jackpot scenarios?
There are FOUR possibilities:
>>BOTH WIN in Berlin – Isinbayeva and Richards share the US$ 1 Million prize equally
>>ONE WINS, THE OTHER LOSES in Berlin – EITHER Isinbayeva OR Richards wins the US$ 1 Million prize outright
However, should NO athlete manage to attain six wins and claim the $1 Million, then anyone with five victories will share half the original prize - $500,000.
NOTE this secondary prize is only on offer should nobody win his or her event at all six meetings.

**NOTE. Blanka Vlasic lost her opening meeting in Oslo, and currently has FOUR victories to her name. Vlasic must win for a fifth time to have any chance of sharing the money.

$1 Million Prize
Successful claimants of the $1 Million Jackpot must win their event (a list of applicable jackpot events is shown below) at ALL SIX meetings of the IAAF Golden League 2007.
However, should NO athlete manage to attain six wins and claim the $1 Million, then anyone with five victories will share half the original prize - $500,000. NOTE. this secondary prize is only on offer should nobody win his or her event at all six meetings.
All winners must compete at the 5th IAAF / VTB Bank World Athletics Final, Stuttgart, Germany (22-23 Sep 2007), to be eligible for their share of the Jackpot.
