Aleen BAILEY, JAM

I am happy I made it to the next round. I take one race at the time. I want to rehydrate, have a massage and get ready for tomorrow. I have to work on my first 30 meters. My 11-year old nephew is my inspiration for this year. He is trying to make a basketball team. I am proud to represent my country. I do it for Jamaica and winning a medal here would be the icing on the cake.

Gloria ASUMNU, NGR

Today, it was all about executing, and maintaining my position. There are three rounds, so I'm just taking one after the other. This is my first individual selection in a major championship. I'm targetting the final, there's a great field out there, but I can definitely medal. I just need to be patient.

Barbara PIERRE, USA

I felt awesome. I heard the gun twice but I just kept going, it was weird. I thought I ran a slower time but I did not. So, this really means that I am in great shape. I am very superstitious, so I did not change anything from my usual habits. I did the same thing as in the Nationals. My coach told me to take it easy in the first round. I am ready for the semi-final and the final.

Murielle AHOURE, CIV

It's my first international championship. The level is totally different, but it's super. I just arrived yesterday, so I'm a bit tired because of the jetlag, but tomorrow should be better. My goal is first to advance to the final and I'd like so much to be able to give Ivory Coast its first medal.

LaVerne JONES-FERRETTE, ISV

The goal was just to make it. I did not push too high. We will have to be quick to make it to the finals tomorrow. I hope to improve my PB. The track? I do not think it is as fast as it should be.

Veronica CAMPBELL-BROWN, JAM

I don't want to complain about the starting gun. I just stay focused on my race and I am happy I advanced to the semifinals. I want to watch the video to see how I executed the race. It's so competitive so it will come down to who executes the best. We may see a sub-seven seconds here. We can't make mistakes in the 60m. You have to be sharp and the start is the most important part. Running indoors helps me for my outdoor season.
