The Italian squad for this month's 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Berlin, Germany (15 – 23 August) has been announced.

The 40-member squad includes reigning Olympic 50Km Race Walk champion Alex Schwazer, who also captured bronze in the event in Osaka, and Elisa Rigaudo, the Olympic bronze medallist in the 20Km Race Walk.

Defending silver medallist in the Long Jump Andrew Howe has been provisionally entered, but his participation is dependent upon his performance at a meeting in Grosseto later this week. 2003 World Pole Vault champion Giuseppe Gibilisco's entry is also provisional, pending his performance in Cottbus on Saturday (8 Aug).
