Jamaican World Youth Champs team announced

Carifta Games 100m champion Deandre Whitehorn and Kemar Bailey-Cole head Jamaica’s team announced today for the 6th IAAF World Youth Championships “Südtirol 2009” in Bressanone/Brixen, Italy (8 to 12 July).

The 20 member squad will see Bailey-Cole, the Carifta Games Under-20 100m bronze medalist, heading the six-member boy’s team.

The boys team is completed by Adams Cummings, Wayne Hyman, A-Shawni Mitchell, Travis Smikle and Javere Bell.

Whitehorn, along with 2009 World Youth 400m Hurdles leader Danielle Dowie heads the 14-member female team.

Peta-Gaye Reid, Rochelle Farquharson, Kimberly Williamson, Janieve Russell, Sandrea Farquharson, Shericka Moulton, Celia Walters, Seidath Palmer, Ristananna Tracey, Samantha Elliott, Keena Davis, and Chantal Duncan completed the female team.

Danny Hawthorn was named head coach and he will have as his assistants Dalton Evans, Milton Brown and Hamlin Pagon.

Patricia Parkins will travel as team manager, Leroy Cooke assistant manager, Carol Long media liaison while Dr. Paul Wright will be the team doctor.
