Reigning World indoor 60m Hurdles champion Lolo Jones and former Olympic 800m champion Yuriy Borzakovskiy are the latest stars confirmed for the BW-Bank Meeting in Karlsruhe, Germany, on 31 January.

The BW-Bank Meeting is the second of ten IAAF Indoor Permit Meetings of 2010.

Jones is no stranger to Karlsruhe’s Europahalle. In 2008, Jones finished second behind Swede Susanna Kallur’s 7.68 World record in the 60m Hurdles, clocking 7.77 to become the 10th fastest woman in history. The performance remains Jones’s career best. Jones returned last year and took the win in 7.81, the fastest time in the world last season.

Borzakovskiy too is familiar with the Karlsruhe venue. The 2004 Olympic champion, who will contest the 800m, underscored his first sub-1:45 indoor performance from 2000 with a blistering 1:44.15 run utilizing his now infamous come-from-behind style. He was still only 19 at the time, and the performance is still the third fastest ever.

Organisers assisting with city’s Haiti earthquake relief effort

In light of the recent tragic earthquake in Haiti, meeting organizer Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress GmbH has agreed to donate one euro per spectator – the Europahalle’s capacity if 4500 -  to the city of Karlsruhe’s earthquake relief effort designed to assist children in the country’s most devastate areas. Additionally, an additional appeal will be made to the spectator and VIP guests. The contributions will be handed over to the Karlsruhe Mayor Martin Lenz on the evening of the meeting.
