Kallur questionable for Olympics

Swedish sprint hurdler Susanna Kallur is likely to miss this summer's Olympic Games in Athens after tearing a muscle in her right thigh during practice this week.

Kallur told the newspaper Dala-Demokraten Friday that an MRI showed it could take between two or three months before she can attempt to practice hurdling again, leaving her precious little time to prepare for August's Olympics.

Kallur said the accident happened during a practice sprint in her native Falun, 220 kilometres (136 miles) northwest of the capital, Stockholm.

"It was like it said 'pop,' and I felt right away that it was serious," Kallur told the newspaper.

Kallur finished fifth in this year's World Indoors Championships at 60m Hurdles, and is currently ranked No. 11 in the world at the sprint Hurdles.
