Monte Carlo - The IAAF Athletics’ World Plan is fast approaching an important point in its ten year mission to ensure that, at the time of the IAAF Centenary in 2012, Athletics would continue to “remain the number one sport for individuals in a changing world”.

The Athletics’ World Plan which was established in 2003 at the 44th IAAF Congress in Paris was set up to encourage debate and innovation in all areas of the sport around the world.  Next year at the 48th edition of Congress which will be hosted in Daegu, Korea, the sport will access the achievements of the Plan to date, gauging the sport’s fitness as the IAAF prepares to begin its next 100 years.

To keep the IAAF Family updated we have established a dedicated section on the IAAF website where by you can keep up with news concerning the Athletics’ World Plan - http://www.iaaf.org/development/awp/index.html

Remember if you are involved in athletics in any capacity, whether as an athlete, coach, official, media, spectator etc… you are a stakeholder, you are part of the Plan. We want you to share some of your own experiences about new proposals, policies, and practises being adopted in your country or Area which are helping to shape the future of our sport. So please contact us at worldplan@iaaf.org  with a short summary, and a member of our editorial team will contact you. Together, we can share in the spirit of the IAAF Athletics’ World Plan.
