Kenyans and Kalovics line-up for Prague Marathon

 The sixth annual Prague Half Marathon is set to kick off on 27 March 2004 at noon on the Charles Bridge and for the second time running, Hervis Sports is its main sponsor.

Attending this year will be Philip Rugut (KEN) with the seventh fastest time for the Half Marathon and John Kyalo (KEN), ranked fifth in the world last year. They will be challenged by Wilson Kiprotich (KEN), who ran a month ago 27:41 in the 10 Km in Puerto Rico. Robert Štefko (SVK), who next month becomes a Czech citizen, will join the race and compete with the Kenyan (PB 1:00:29).

Alice Chelangat (KEN) will be leading the women race side by side with Aniko Kalovics (HUN). Kalovics is considered one of the best European female runners, she declared that she is coming to Prague to break the course record.

Petra Kaminková, currently the best Czech female runner at 5km, 10km, and the Half Marathon, will run for the first time the Half Marathon in Prague.

The current men’s record was set in 2001 by Kenyan Anthony Korir (1:02:09), while Slovenia’s Helena Javornik set the mark for women last year (1:11:03).
